How can my partner control my toy?

How far away can my phone be from my toy?
Why isn't my toy responding to my app?

Having difficulty connecting your new smart sex toy to your phone?

Is your new app controlled adult toy acting up?

While technology has made toys much smarter so that your partner(s) can control them in the same room or across the world, they definitely come with some issues.

It may take a little effort to get things working correctly. However, it will be worth the wait.

We're going to go over some basic troubleshooting for all app controlled toys along with some brand specific information.

General Troubleshooting Smart Toys

Now, you'll probably roll your eyes a few times while reading this, but it's worth it to try everything to make your sexy investment work.

Just like all things with technology, troubleshooting your app-controlled sex toy should always start with trying the basics:

  • Try turning your phone and the toy on then off
  • Make sure your app-controlled sex toy is fully charged
  • Make sure that your toy is compatible with your phone
  • Make sure you've downloaded the correct application to pair with your toy
  • Make sure your phone is running the latest version of software
  • Make sure you're connected to WiFi or cellular data on your phone
  • Ensure that you have Bluetooth enabled and turned on - you may need to go into the "Settings" area of your phone and give the sex toy app permission to use your Bluetooth
    • If it is already on, try switching it off then back on after a few seconds
  • Try holding the button on your toy for 5+ seconds to see if it needs a manual restart
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling your application
  • Make sure your phone and toy are within range of each other - generally within 10 feet or 3 meters

Specific App-Controlled Toy Brands

We're going to talk about the three big players in the field of teledildonics

Each one comes with its own specific information, requirements, and compatibility.

We-Vibe

We loveWe-Vibe smart adult toys. However, their brand does tend to have more issues than others.

Through our own research, we've found that these toys connect best when lovers are further apart - yes, we've done intercontinental research for you!

Once they're sorted, you'll find they're definitely worth the extra steps.

Supported Devices

We-Vibe toys won't work with every phone - make sure that your smartphone meets the criteria before buying

  • Apple Devices (iOS9 or newer):
    • iPhone - 4S, 5, 5C, 6, 6 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, or newer
    • iPad - 3rd generation or newer
    • iPad Mini - All generations
    • iPod Touch - 5th generation or newer
  • Android Devices (Android 4.4 or newer):
    • Google Pixel
    • HTC Droid
    • HTC One (M7, M8, or newer)
    • LG Nexus

    • Samsung Galaxy Nexus
    • Sony Xperia Z3

Some devices are compatible with We-Vibe toys but are not listed above. That's because they haven't been thoroughly tested, so their compatibility can't be guaranteed.

Common Issues

  • My We-Vibe is paired but isn't responding to the app.
    • As a default factory setting, your We-Vibe toy will go into sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity. Touch the power button on your toy to wake it up. If you want to change this setting, go to thesettings area of your menu.
    • Make sure that your phone and toy are within 10 feet or 3 meters of each other.
  • My partner did not get the link via SMS/text or email.
    • Make sure both you and your partner are connected to cellular data or WiFi.
    • Try again by choosingConnect to my Lover from the menu - double-check the phone number or email address is correct.
      • If this doesn't work, ask your partner to try sending you the request instead.
      • If you sent it via email - make sure you check your "spam" or "junk" folders.
  • The link I sent my partner doesn't work.
    • Try removing your lover (temporarily) by clickingsettings, thenRemove Lover, then invite them to play again.
      • Keep in mind that you can only have one We-Vibe lover at a time, so you may need to delete some previous lovers.
